I just wanted to say hello to the Obscure Analyst family.  Some of you have decided to join my family and have signed up for my weekly Forensics Newsletter and I just wanted to thank you for the opportunity you have given me to share my investment research with on a regular basis.   I wanted to let everyone know that my first 4 weeks at PTT Research have gone extremely well and the response so far to my Forensics Newsletter product offering has been tremendous.  The knowledge sharing between the PTT Research analysts makes it easier for me to do my job well and will continue to give me even more insight into my favorite investments.  Some other exciting news is that PTT Research is in the process of developing my own App for mobile devices, which will allow my subscribers to view content and interact with each other through the PTT Forensics member forum from their mobile devices.

My inaugural PTT Research investment pick was up nearly 20% at its peak in just 3 weeks since I announced it to my Forensics Newsletter subscribers on June 5th and is still up well over 10% today.  I’ve provided subsequent updates to my subscribers regarding my inaugural investment pick as well as continued updates related to my other favorite investments.  I’ve also made some solid progress towards announcing my next investment pick to my paid subscribers.  Once my deep research is complete on my next investment pick it will go through my rigid evaluation process for approval before it can qualify as my next investment pick for my subscribers.  My goal is to share my research and analysis with my subscribers and present them with investment options that they can put their money behind, follow the story and watch their investments grow over time with significantly less inherent risk.  My subscribers receive the latest trends and information on my favorite investments including breaking news headlines that have not been written that they will receive weeks to months ahead of the general public so they can profit from it.

There is still plenty of time to get into the action but the window is closing quickly before my inaugural pick along with my very detailed analysis and strong buy recommendation is presented to the general public and my next investment is presented to my paid subscribers for the very first time.   I have also discovered some amazing new developments that even surprised me related to some of favorite investments.  If you have an investment in GTAT and have not thought long and hard about buying a Forensics Newsletter subscription you have missed and will continue to miss invaluable real-time information related to GT Advanced Technologies that you can profit from.

While the rest of the world waits for the iPhone 6 to arrive I have been hard at work researching, listing and writing about the next several significant developments that will be making headlines for GT Advanced Technologies as well as my “locked” up inaugural PTT Forensics investment pick.  Are you curious what you are missing?

My Forensics Newsletter is currently being offered at a 10% discount for as long as you keep you subscription active.  Thanks again for your continued support and I hope to see more members of the Obscure Analyst family join me over at PTT Research in the near future to finish the ride we have started and to join me on several new investment journeys for years to come.

GT Announces Project Win for HiCz Technology

The project win with Qatar Solar Energy (QSE) is subject to QSE’s receipt of government approvals and financing before the project win becomes in an offical equipment order. As far as revenue recognition, HiCz will likely have a longer period of acceptance that could range from 6 to 12 months after the equipment is delivered before revenue can be recognized.

MERRIMACK, N.H., June 12, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — GT Advanced Technologies Inc., (Nasdaq:GTAT), today announced that it has secured a project win for its proprietary, next-generation HiCz continuous feeding puller technology that is expected to help enable the solar industry’s transition to higher efficiency, lower cost solar material. The company has entered into an agreement with Qatar Solar Energy (QSE) to supply its HiCz™200 furnaces for QSE’s integrated PV manufacturing project in Doha, Qatar. As noted by QSE in a recent press release, QSE has opened a 300MW integrated facility and plans for the project to reach 2.5GW. The supply agreement is subject to QSE’s receipt of government approvals and financing, at which time GT would expect to receive the equipment order.
“We are pleased that GT has been selected to supply its HiCz™200 monocrystalline furnace to QSE,” said Dave Keck, executive vice president of GT’s solar business. “This is an exciting opportunity for GT to have our leading edge HiCz technology selected to be a part of the first vertically integrated PV manufacturing facility in the MENA region. The GT HiCz 200 furnace is expected to produce high quality n-type wafers for solar cells with efficiencies that exceed 22 percent.”

HiCz is GT’s proprietary next-generation monocrystalline PV puller capable of growing both p-type and n-type monocrystalline ingots. The HiCz continuous feeding growth process offers significant advantages over traditional batch Cz furnaces making it particularly well suited for the production of n-type ingots. The HiCz growth process produces longer ingots with greater material uniformity and lower resistivity. This process lowers the cost of wafering through improvements in yield, enables higher quality material and is expected to provide a path to higher efficiency solar cells.

I will be breaking down the financial impact of this deal for my PTT Forensics Research Subscribers in the near future. Join now and be the first to find out!

  • Installed furnaces inside Mesa, AZ are estimated to exceed 2,500 tools
  • Apple Base Case Revenue likely to exceed $2B and $2.00 EPS
  • Sapphire boule size are estimated to approach 235 kg

GTAT is still waiting on the 4th and final prepayment is received from Apple. The delay in the receipt of the final prepayment is believed to be related to the ramp up of equipment of equipment inside the Mesa facility. The sapphire plant is expected to be completed in June, which should coincide with the receipt of the final prepayment from Apple.
My latest supply chain check indicated that GT has likely installed slightly more than 2,500 furnaces. Sapphire boule size is expected to range between 200 and 235 kg. Stephen Chin of UBS has been one of the most vocal analyst’s covering GTAT issued a note on May 28th related to the progress of GT’s sapphire operations in Mesa, AZ.
The UBS research note issued on May 28th indicated that any installed furnaces greater than 1,500 or boule size greater than 165 kg would likely result in an upside to its 2015 estimates of $1.30. UBS stated, “we believe 2015 has more chance for upside if the furnaces are indeed larger sized and there are more than we estimated.” My supply chain check indicates that the number of installed furnaces will be significantly larger than 1,500 and sapphire boule sizes will also be significantly larger than 165 kg, which will lead to major upgrades across the board from Wall Street analysts in the near future.
As a result of my most recent supply chain check I believe that the Mesa sapphire operations will have an ample supply to cover the iWatch, the 4.7” iPhone and the 5.5” iPhone with full sapphire cover glass in 2014. Additionally, the maximum sapphire screen capacity of the Mesa facility is likely to exceed 200m annual units. My most recent supply chain check confirms that GT’s sapphire business with Apple is likely to approach or exceed $2B annually, or $2.00 earnings per share using an estimated ASP of $10 per unit.
Current Wall Street models are only pricing in Apple business at $1b annual or $1.00 earnings per share. My latest supply chain check indicates that Wall Street will likely need to DOUBLE revenue, EPS estimates and price targets once the iPhone 6 and iWatch are released later this year covered in sapphire glass.
I am maintaining my $87.50 price target as well as my 2015 estimate for GTAT EPS at $2.84 based on $3.177B in sales, including just over $2B of sales from Apple versus $1.335B and $1.30 EPS currently being estimated by UBS.

Get in early and enjoy my top investment picks.

Barron’s released some information from Brian White of Cantor Fitzgerald.

White was most recently in the news regarding his belief that sapphire was seen in some iWatch models and that the iPhone 6 would feature sapphire glass.

White’s supply chain check indicates, “that initial production of certain “iWatch” components is scheduled to begin later this month and there are plans for a sharp acceleration into fall.” The report also indicated that the iWatch will likely arrive along side the iPhone 6 in September. White estimates the iWatch will be priced between $199-$299 for entry level device.

White believes the first iteration of the iWatch is more of a companion device.

Since our research suggests the first iteration of the “iWatch” is more of a companion device, and thus requires a connection to an iPhone, we believe unveiling the two new devices at the same time makes sense.

White also indicated that the 5.5 inch iPhone 6 is likely to arrive this fall.

Furthermore, as we make our way through Computex, our research is uncovering more evidence that the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 will launch this fall.

My PTT Forensics Newsletter special pricing ends at 12pm EST Wednesday June 4th and my first pick and newsletter gets released on 3pm Thursday June 5th.

What is my news letter about?

My goal is to introduce 6-10 picks a year that I feel will double or potentially triple over the next 12 months. My focus is quality and not quantity. My goal as a stock research analyst is to gather as much information as humanly possible on each company I follow. My unique research style allows me to extract key tips from management over the past several years that have been laid out and build a roadmap of what is coming.

Some of you are followers of GTAT, which is by far one of my most exciting investments to date. GTAT is up nearly 90% in 2014 when I started coverage on it via Seeking Alpha at just over $9 per share. The reason why I don’t lose sleep when the stock falls 6% like it did yesterday for no “real” reason is because I have a roadmap of where GT is headed. I have an understanding of GT’s technology, GT’s industries, GT’s past and most importantly GT’s future plans including product applications and estimated timing. I think the true appreciation of what I can deliver will become completely evident as time passes. When Apple showcases the sapphire covered iPhone 6 later this year, some of you may be surprised, but I will not.

The sapphire cover screen was written years ago and is just playing out before our eyes today. I spoke with my friends and family over the summer and tried to convince as many people as I could to buy GTAT. I told my friends and family to buy as much GTAT as you can afford to hold for the next 3-4 years. I told them to buy this stock and put it in an envelop and open it up in a few years. I told my friends and family in August 2013 that GTAT was going to land a deal with Apple. Just 3 months later Apple and GTAT announced a contract, a sapphire facility in AZ and just around the corner Apple will introduce a sapphire covered iPhone 6.

My friends and family have nearly all doubled their original investment in GTAT. The only exceptions are those, who did not listen to me last summer, but decided to buy after Apple announced the deal with GTAT. I made sure to rub it in their face “Hey remember how I said GTAT would land Apple? Well they just did.”

The Apple announcement was a validation point of my ability to perform “Forensic” research on companies. I can tell you that NONE of my friends or family members have sold one share of GTAT since they first bought. However, nearly all of them have added to their initial investments because they fully trust my vision, my research and they know I don’t gamble with my money.

GTAT is much much much more than just Apple, but I wanted to share the significance of the Apple contract to give you some context. I’ve also been grilled by some seasoned professional investigative reporters and boutique investment firms over the last several months as research on GTAT received some national attention.

I decided several months ago that I couldn’t deal with any more with “the garbage” that other analysts produce and I became motivated to give a real research report so I took my “very very part-time” show to Seeking Alpha. PTT Research, led by Mark Gomes, recognized my ability and provided me with an opportunity to do my dream job. What is my dream job? Getting paid to make people money.

My friends and family have increased their net worths by hundreds of thousands of dollars from my advice in less than a year. I’ve received a few dinners in return as well as some very very happy customers. I honestly love making people money. I can only imagine what I can do for a much larger pool of investors.

My next pick is an investment. I spent hours and hours researching and building a base of knowledge. I’ve read the company comments from the past several years to understand the foundation that the company was built on. I’ve dug into the markets that the companies support including Key customer developments. My goal is to deliver the most comprehensive research report on each company I introduce. I want to educate my subscribers so they can become knowledgeable and experts in the companies they invest in.

Investing is personal and I want to deliver the personal touch. I want to deliver a unique experience to my subscribers. I want to be your “personal” analyst, who makes the traditional “Wall Street” analysts look bad. I’ve read the Wall Street reports and some are well researched and some are not. I can tell you for a fact that the Wall Street analysts, who cover GTAT are months to years behind the GTAT story. Not one analyst who covers GTAT even knew what Hyperion was before I introduced it to them. I personally feel that I am months to years ahead of GTAT’s written story. I want to be the spoiler for the company’s I cover in my research.

My goal is to be successful enough to work myself out of my day job. Everything I’ve put together on my Obscure Analyst blog was done on top of a full time job and a family a very very demanding kid filled environment at home (3 kids under 3 years old – 30 month old boy/girl twins and a 14 month old daughter). I love information and cutting through hours and hours of commentary to pull out clues, build roadmaps and get in front of companies that are ready for explosive growth and investment returns.

Thanks again for your continued support and I hope all of you join me in what I expect to be an exciting and rewarding journey for everyone who follows. I wanted to get personal with you tonight, because investing is personal and you need to put your money with someone you can trust. I feel like in running for office, but I hope you vote for me and go long with my PTT Research Forensics signup Link

Thanks again for your continued support and I’m looking forward to our continued journey together.

Matt – “The Obscure Analyst”

The city is Mesa is set to delegate the operational rights of the Mesa sapphire plant sub zone to GTAT on Monday. Up to this point the city of a Mesa has acted as the grantee of the Mesa sapphire sub zone operations under approval that was granted in March 2014. According to the FTZ, the grantee (city of Mesa) has maintained the greatest direct control over the sapphire plant zone operations. The grantee also directly bears responsibility and Customs liability for the Zone’s operation.

GT as soon as Monday June 2nd may take direct control over the sapphire plant zone operations as well as direct responsibility for FTZ Customs liability. On May 20th GT posted a new job titled “Foreign Trade Zone administrator” to “Provide FTZ and import/export compliance training for all personnel working within the zone and at certain other locations”.

GT’s November SEC filing indicated that the company expected to receive the final prepayment in April. Stephen Chin of UBS, in his recent report published earlier this week indicated that the delayed receipt of the final Apple prepayment might be due to significantly more furnaces being installed at the Mesa facility versus his original estimates.

We believe one of the reasons that GT has not received its 4th prepayment from Apple yet (originally estimated the 4th and final would be paid by end of last month) is that there could be around 2,000 furnaces being installed (about 30% more than we originally estimated)

The transfer of the sub zone operations from the grantee (city of Mesa) to GT Advanced Technology on Monday June 2nd might be the final hurdle required before Apple releases the final prepayment of $138 million to GT Advanced. The final prepayment from Apple could be received as early as next week. The Mesa plant is expected to be completed in June.

Next week is setting up to be a very interesting week for GT Advanced Technologies.

Apple’s WWDC begins on Monday June 2nd.

GT is expected to be granted operator status over the Mesa sapphire operations sub zone on June 2nd.

GT’s annual stockholder meeting is scheduled on June 4th.

The final prepayment of $138 million from Apple could be received by GT as soon as next week.

Selecting an Operator (FTZ Website)

For businesses to use the Zone, save money, and expand or keep their operations in the community, the Zone must be fully operational.

Upon a grant of authority, the Grantee must address the processes of administration and operation of the Zone.

Some Foreign-Trade Zone Grantees elect to operate their General Purpose Zone themselves. In doing so, the Grantee maintains the greatest direct control over Zone operations, yet also directly bears responsibility and Customs liability for the Zone’s operation.

Reminder: My PTT Research Forensics Newsletter that is scheduled to be published on Thursday June 5th at 3pm EST.

My Forensics Newsletter pricing is now available and a special 20% launch discount (for the first 48 hours) will be available when my Forensics Newsletter subscription goes on sale on Monday June 2nd at 12pm EST.

If you were wondering what my next pick will be. Here is my sneak peek summary:

My next pick is a company that is built on top of a strong foundation of intellectual property. My analysis of the company’s data and public comments indicate that a “major ramp” in future sales is just getting underway. The company’s C-suite is in the process of scaling up the business and preparing to manage a much larger and more complex company. The company has quietly created an integrated eco-system comprised of software and hardware that continues to extend its competitive edge over its largest competitors. The industry that the company primarily supports is in the early stages of what is expected to be an explosive and long-term growth cycle.
